ABOUT

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Hello, I’m Bryan Smith, a Denver native with more than 25 years experience in the structured cabling industry.
I believe in conducting business with integrity and transparency. My employees are courteous, knowledgeable and easy to work with, and we strive to bring our customers the best value possible. Every interaction with our company is based on these guiding principles.

I’ve had the pleasure of learning from some of the best structured cabling professionals in the industry, which inspired me to start my own business, Legacy Teledata Services, LLC, in 2012.

Many of my clients want to know how I got into the structured cabling business. I started out as a high voltage lineman in the United States Army Reserves at 19 years of age. It’s hard to believe now that I was afraid of working with electricity at the time, but I really wanted that $2,000 signing bonus!

When I left the Reserves, I came home to Colorado and saw a Mile High Cablevision crew working one day. I didn’t know anything about telecommunication, but needed a job and knew I could get cables from here to there. The next day I applied for a job with Mile High Cable Vision and was hired on the spot.

After working in the cable business for five years, I switched gears when some friends told me about voice and data cabling. There, I learned more about the telephone industry and how phone service works. I honed my skills for 25 years by working with the some of the most successful structured cabling companies in the metro area. In 2012, I decided to use my experience and expertise to build my own company, and Legacy Teledata was born.

I believe in conducting business with integrity and transparency. My employees are courteous, knowledgeable and easy to work with, and we strive to bring our customers the best value possible. Every interaction with our company is based on these guiding principles.

One of the challenges of the structured cabling business is finding reliable people who know how to do the work. In the future, I’d like to bring to fruition a standardization program for the industry. My goal is to get more schools to offer trade programs for structured cabling. That way, people who are entering the structured cabling field will have a solid foundation and more uniform standards to prepare them for the workforce.

My company name is inspired by the legacy I want to leave for my family: one of strong work ethic and financial responsibility. Family is very important to me and in my spare time, I ski and love to play golf.

My business name also has a double meaning: Legacy is my favorite golf course in Thornton, and the serenity there inspires me. Ideas come together for me on the course. I think about how to be more efficient, how to better serve clients, and how to create a fair environment for my employees.

Please contact me if you have questions, need service, or a project quote. I’m happy to answer any questions about my business and how we work.
